FROM THE LANE'S SUFC HALL OF FAME

After a few years online, we've decided to upgrade our United 'Dream Team' page into a Hall of Fame. We'll be periodically adding United legends to this page, although older fans should bear in mind that our support only stretches back to 1987, so most of our additions will be players who've played after that date. That's not to say we're excluding U's players that we never saw - drop us an email with your suggestions of any players not already featured, including a blurb and some stats if possible and we'll add some of these as well.

Ekoku, Efan
At United: 1988/89 - 89/90, Stats: Appearances 69, Goals 35.
Date Added: June 2005

In a brief spell at United, Efan exploded into the non-league game with his blistering pace and eye for goal before going on to greater things in the professional game at clubs including AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City, Wimbledon and Sheffield Wednesday. Efan joined the club in the second half of the 1988/89 season, making his debut as a substitute in an FA Trophy tie against Bishop Aukland, the first match after United had lost to Norwich in the FA Cup. He finished that season with a hat-trick on the final day of the season against Barnet and, the following year, bagged 25 Conference goals. Those goals persuaded Bournemouth to pay £100,000 for Efan's services, the highest transfer fee Sutton have ever received.

Favourite Efan Moment: Every time he gave a defender a ten yard start to a through-ball and still beat them to it before scoring.

McKinnon, Paul
At United: 1976/77 - 90/91 & 1993/94, Stats: Appearances 543, Goals 279.
Date Added: June 2005.

A member of the Sutton side that won the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1978/79 and back-to-back Isthmian League titles in the 80s - just take a look at those stats and you'll see why Paul is a Sutton legend. His 279 goals, scored at better than one every other game, make him United's record goalscorer. Twice he passed 50 goals in a season - such prolific finishing attracted the attentions of Blackburn Rovers, who he joined in the 1986-87 season for a brief spell before returning to United.

Favourite 'Macca' Moment: At home to Torquay in the 1st Round of the 1989/90 FA Cup, McKinnon launches into a diving header at the front post and heads the right-wing cross into the far corner of the net to give Sutton a one-nil lead. Torquay eventually took the game to a replay, which they won comfortably.
